Mohsen Basiri

MD

Associate Research Scientist

I have been fortunate and honored to learn about the clinical aspects of lysosomal and inherited metabolic liver diseases, especially Gaucher disease, under the esteemed supervision of Dr Mistry. This experience has opened an exciting new chapter in my career, helping me to do research projects intersecting clinical and translational research. We are discovering the determinants of diverse clinical manifestations of Gaucher disease by applying several biostatistical models in 20+ years of longitudinal registry of Gaucher disease patients and whole exome sequencing. By applying machine learning technics, we re-model the long-term exposure concept in chronic diseases and calculate dynamic severity scores for GD, expanding this experience to other chronic diseases. Together, our projects are helping to create a roadmap for personalized medicine in highly variable monogenic disorders like Gaucher disease.
